Microsoft Technical Specialist
Local Microsoft consultancy and business software solutions house has an immediate requirement for a hands-on person experienced in MS infrastructure and cloud platforms. Experience can be in-house or from working in a consultancy or managed service environment. Brilliant role.
The Role
The role exists as an interesting combo of responsibilities – a bit of a Jack of All Trades scenario where you are not pigeon-holed and will often have to think on your feet and lend support across a range of areas. You will work closely as a conduit between developers, implementation consultants, project managers, the client and Microsoft as a vendor.
Key responsibilities are to scope out customer infrastructure requirements from initial gap analysis stage right through to managing installation and integration of the software environment and eventually providing resolution to any higher-level support issues on a third line basis.
The person
You will be a hands-on technical person who loves making improvements, working with new kit and using new technology to boost performance and service within businesses. You will need to have experience and a passion for cloud technology but also appreciate that you can get called into supporting issues with clients who aren’t quite there yet in terms of adopting a full cloud platform.
You will be a keen technology person – interested in what’s new, happy to undertake training courses in the latest Microsoft releases and keen to make recommendations to clients. You will be someone who knows their stuff with Microsoft infrastructure and storage solutions and will have experience in rolling out cloud solutions in a live business environment. MS 365 rollout experience is ideal.
You will need to be experienced with the following:
- Microsoft business platforms (Exchange O365, AD, Sharepoint, SQL, Windows Server etc)
- Understanding of Storage Area Networks and backup systems
- Understanding of IT security, risk management, DR and continuity solutions
- Experience in managing change and roll-outs in a live commercial environment
Ideally you will exposure / experience with Power BI, Azure and Visual Studio Team Services or can at least display a keen willingness to undertake training in these areas.
You also need to be able to keep a clear head, have strong communication skills and get a thrill out of solving problems.
