DESCRIPTION
A brand spanking new IT Support Engineer role in an established and growing local food and drinks company. A broad and hands-on role covering support, systems implementation, process improvement and much more. A career maker for someone with 2-3 years’ experience and seeking that next step.
The Role
IT Support Engineer within a respected company in the food and drinks sector. The company has several sites across Ireland and is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul of its core IT framework including infrastructure and ERP / business systems. This is a new role, based primarily in the Coleraine area but with a requirement to cover projects in other sites as required. The role exists as an interesting combo of Network and Infrastructure stability, Storage and Security, DR and delivery of internal projects. This is not a vanilla Support role – there is a lot of emphasis on internal project work, roll outs, migration to a new ERP system and process improvement. You will be busy. And challenged. And rewarded.
The person
First and foremost you will be a hands-on technical person who loves making improvements, working with new kit and being a key part of how up-to-date technology boosts performance and service within a large commercial organisation. You are not one to be stuck behind a desk working with admin, team leadership and procedure manuals – you want to get your hands dirty and you want a challenge.
You could be working in an IT management company and find yourself spread across a range of clients and really fancy a change to a hands-on internal role. You will be someone who knows their apples in regard to Microsoft infrastructure and storage solutions in a live business environment.
You will need to be experienced with the following:
- Microsoft business platforms (Exchange O365, AD, SQL, Windows Server etc)
- Understanding of Storage Area Networks and backup systems
- Knowledge of VMware ESXi
- Understanding of IT security, risk management, DR and continuity solutions
- Experience in managing change and roll-outs in a live commercial environment
- Knowledge of GDPR processes
You also need to be able to keep a clear head, have strong communication skills and get a thrill out of solving problems.
The Company
Household name organisation in NI. Market leaders in their field. The company is going through its next wave of investment in ICT and Business Systems and is rolling out and consolidating a new infrastructure platform across several sites in what will be a huge and complex project involving all areas of the business.
